About Ankur Warikoo (Ankur Warikoo Biography)
1980-2006
Ankur Warikoo is an entrepreneur, angel investor, mentor, and public speaker. He was born on 25th August 1985.

He completed his schooling at Don Bosco School, New Delhi. Then he joined Hindu College (BSc, Physics). After that pursued Ph.D. in Physics from Michigan State University (MS, Astrophysics), which he dropped out from after completing his MS. Post coming back from the US, he pursued his MBA from The Indian School of Business, graduating in 2006.
He got placed in A.T. Kearney which is Consulting Company. While at Kearney, Warikoo worked in the Real Estate and Media & Entertainment Sector – in Dubai, New York, and India.
2007-2010
In 2007 Accentium was founded by Ankur Warikoo’s friend “Vivek Pahwa”. He is the co-founder of the company and assists Accentium in a part-time capacity with a full-time Job in A.T. Kearney. He left his job and moved full-time to Accentium in May 2009.
Accentium Web owns and operates several websites in the Indian Consumer Space, namely SecondShaadi (a matrimonial service for remarriages), Gaadi.com (a car portal which got later sold to Naspers Group in 2011 and was acquired by CarDekho.com in 2015). Ankur Warikoo exited the venture in September 2010.
2011-2014
Warikoo started the Groupon India business in April 2011, which is when Groupon entered India through an acquisition. In addition to serving as the CEO of the India business, between 2013-2015 Warikoo also managed the Groupon APAC business of Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines. In August 2015, Groupon India went through a management buyout, where the India management team (led by Ankur) bought out the majority shareholding of Groupon, partnering with Sequoia Capital.
2015-Till Now
He founded nearbuy.com in 2015 and was the CEO until 2019. Prior to that, he started the Groupon India business in 2011 and was the APAC GM, until 2015.
He is passionate about public speaking and is often found speaking at corporates, colleges, schools, and conferences – largely on motivation, leadership, consumer internet, and entrepreneurial mindset
He is an active angel investor and invests in early-stage tech startups and mentors the founders on Product-Market-Fit, Talent hiring & retention, and the founder mindset.

Brand Warikoo started in 2016 when Ankur was the CEO of nearbuy.com
The brand was started primarily to own the story and to create a brand for potential talent. Due to his love for public speaking, Ankur volunteered for the task and with that, one fine Wednesday, recorded a video with the title “if you don’t ask, the answer is always no!”
He called it “Warikoo Wednesdays”.
Since then, the brand has grown many folds and is present across most top social networks. The brand continues to grow largely through video content, by helping people make choices from a point of awareness and not ignorance.
